As the National Highway plantation opened up in 2016 under the aegis of the NHAI,  the NTF got drafted into a non core competence area of  social forest as reputed NGOs were invited to take responsibilities in small patches. Accordingly nine kilometer of patch in Sonapur area of Guwahati was marinated by NTF’s outreach division.
